DOCKSIDE

SMS alerts and how porters opt in

This page describes the SMS programme operated by Dockside and shows the opt-in form exactly as it appears to a porter.

What the programme is

Dockside is a web app used by cruise terminal porters at the Port of Galveston, Texas. Guests can message a porter through the app without either side sharing a phone number. When a guest sends a message, the porter can choose to be alerted by SMS so they do not have to keep the app open.

Who receives messages

Only porters. Only porters who have signed into their own Dockside account and entered their own mobile number. Guests never receive SMS from Dockside, and numbers are never uploaded, purchased, or added by anyone other than the porter themselves.

The opt-in form

The form below is part of a porter's account settings at /ds/connect-signin.html. That page requires sign-in, so this is a faithful copy of what a signed-in porter sees. It is shown here for review and does nothing.

Message frequency. Messages are sent only when a guest messages that porter. There is no schedule and no marketing. Typically a few messages per working day, and none on days a porter is not contacted.

Message and data rates may apply.

What the messages say

The guest's message is never included — an alert only says a message is waiting. These are the only two messages the system sends:

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message, or remove the phone number from account settings. Reply HELP for help. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy

Dockside does not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Full detail in the Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
